Labelled the pre-fab four, The Monkees were the Pops first manufactured boy band. Created in 1965 by an ambitious young filmmaker Bob Rafelson, the Monkees was designed to be a zany TV show for the pre-teens about a fictional failing pop group. However, remarkably by 1967, the Monkees really were the number one pop group in the world outselling the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Elvis.

Forty years later, this entertaining documentary is the inside story of Pop music?s most unlikely superstars featuring revealing access to former Monkees Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork, as well as creator Bob Rafelson, music supervisor Don Kirshner and songwriters Bobby Hart and Jeff Barry.
